Meet the Counsellor

Amanda Gresham
Bachelor of Social Science (Psych), Master of Social Work (PQ)
I'm an AASW registered social worker, with qualifications in social work & psychology from Charles Sturt University. I also work as a school counsellor and I am currently doing further training in play therapy.I help kids of all ages learn more about themselves and develop social & emotional skills and resilience. Importantly, I aim to help kids and their families to feel heard and understood.I work collaboratively with families, schools and other service providers to work towards common goals, strengthen communication and build supportive connections. My counselling approach is neuro-affirming and play-based, and informed by CBT, ACT, Solutions-Focused Brief Therapy, and strengths-based practice.Creativity and fun are so important and I love to use art, toys, videos and games to help children feel motivated, empowered and engaged.

Individual Counselling

What to expect
People come to therapy for lots of different reasons like: problems with friends, family stuff, school, or managing strong feelings like anxiety and anger.Play-based counselling can help kids understand more about themselves and their emotions, set goals and learn new skills. At your first appointment, we'll have a chat, play a game or do some art. I'll tell you a bit about how counselling works. You can ask me questions or tell me about whatever's on your mind.I'll talk to the adults too, and we'll all make a plan together for how counselling might be helpful for you.
